| Burgh Island –
The Island boasts the Pilchard Inn which dates back to 1336 and
the fantastic art deco hotel, frequented by Noel Coward, Winston
Churchill and many more, a setting for numerous TV and big screen
productions. The Hotel was the setting for Agatha Christies novel
"and then there were none" and "evil under the sun"
National trust properties- There are several national
trust properties in the area around dartmouth, Greenway, Coleton
Fishacre, Buckland and Castle Drago are my favorites It is best
ring as opening times vary 01803 752466 or check on www.nationaltrust.org.uk
Dartmouth - There a many interesting shops to discover,
best on market days Tuesdays and Fridays Totnes – A medieval
town with great shops – take a return boat trip up the river
Dart to Totnes or take the boat, up to Totnes on a boat. Bus to
Paignton, back to Dartmouth on a Steam Train
Salcombe - Great for sailing, but not that much else as
the town as it has evolved into a town almost soley catering to
tourism, in the process it’s lost its soul. So head for one
of Salcombes lovely beaches. Either north or south
sandsboth great beachs although there's not much of them when the
tide is in. There's dingy hire, and a cool cafe called the winking
prawn. There's Lanacombe beach , just a short ferry ride from ferryman's
inn.
Kingsbridge – An honest market town without too many
frills.. A must is the Pig Finca café it’s wacky and
original with great organic food, there’s a Pig Finka shop
to visit afterwards.

Exeter - An interesting City, Museums, Shops, underground
passageway and everything. Head for the Quay walk or bike along
the towpath, there’s a great Pub called the Double Locks.
